By the way, NOT wherein the cement near her garage.

It wouldn’t even be physically possible to plant something in that skinny 1/4 inch seam of soil.
she actually planted it about 10 feet away on the side of her house, and that one is still there too. The one near the garage is bigger and nicer though. It re-seeded itself in the concrete there, which she LOVEs. Ma called those kind of plants that just pop up wherever they feel like it, as “volunteers”.

See that’s the thing. If you don’t spray and weed whack the bejeesus out of your property like all Americans do, and you keep your eyes peeled for plants when you yank out weeds, sometimes plants will find wherever is best for them, if you give them a chance.

she has other kinds of plants volunteers elsewhere in her yard, they’re the best kind, like free plant presents. II am waiting for a picture this spring of the most amazing one she has in her yard.
