The costume designer wasn't the only star on the 2022 Oscars red carpet who used their fashion to take a stand. Jason Momoaaccessorized his suit with a blue and yellow Ukraine-themed scarf tucked in his breast pocket. And many stars such as actress Youn Yuh-jung, director Pedro Almodóvar, and Jamie Lee Curtisarrived wearing blue ribbons pinned to their ensembles. Curtis explained to the Associated Press that “The ribbon is about the refugee crisis. It's an incredibly important moment given what's happening in Ukraine, the displacement of human beings in the world. The exodus of human beings is a crucial story for our time. It's been happening throughout history, and right now it's a crucial time. It's supporting films that talk about it...these are talking about displaced people and it's important.”

Most of The ukrainians I know live in Lviv

That is the city they keep talking about on tv as being the way station for the refugees into Poland.

I call them weekly on Saturday.

About three weeks ago, they received a few missiles strikes. Heard and unnerved. But not near enough.

I called Saturday and everything seemed fine. Then they were bombed During our early Monday hours. I called yesterday in the morning shortly after the attack to see how they were doing.

The missiles hit some train tracks but my cousin said that portion was rarely used. They hit a private tire changing station and destroyed forty cars parked there. They blew out the windows of a hotel where some refugees were staying. They hit some military warehouses, but my cousin said they were not housing much because, of course, most of the supplies were already disbursed.

thankfully safe. They said there was no real tactical nor strategic benefit to this target. It was strictly terrorism, to make ordinary citizens feel unsafe.
