There is one or more kinds of dementia

There is one where the patient maintains cognitive abilities of past but the brain center that regulates ability to self police behavior deteriorates and the patient starts blurting out things in public or to family that they never would have in past

In most elderly, they just wave their hand and say, o that is just grandpa or grandma, ignore them

Alito’s behavior in his dissent suggests he has lost the ability to self regulate and can be considered to be manifesting signs of dementia

Judges just are not supposed to say things like
that
