When it rains it pours but then things get better. I was concerned how others were taking the heat. As we get older we do not process or feel it like we used to. Just make sure you are hydrated.

That is such a shame about the butterflies. I am sure the cutting of trees had an impact. I see both sides of the coin. The energy company is doing it to protect the lines so that there are less power outages in the summer and winter. There is no ideal situation.

I feel really bad for my sister. A bat and car damage to boot. Yuck. I don’t celebrate my Mom’s birthday on the actual day maybe we can all get together another day. We have been doing that for years. As long as the family is together at an appointed time , that’s all that counts. I am sure that is the most important to my Mom.

I hope my dental surgery is not too serious?? No matter how you look at it; it is still surgery.
. Just trying to figure out the schedule.

Keep cool. The humidity is supposed to break this weekend. Fingers crossed.

life seems busy but calm, but I bet you don’t think it’s calm at all.

It’s been a calm month here, but it’s going to gear up soon. Mama birthday on Monday, and has a good deal of follow up appointments over the next two months.
That’s already a busy week by definition.

This has been a rotten summer. She is outdoorsy. You could never keep her indoors. The second winter broke, she’d be out gardening. She didn’t love the heat the way I do, but she didn’t mind it. She used to some of her tougher outdoor chores in spite of the heat. Besides predictable problem, her diastolic rarely rises above fifty any longer. This means she can’t tolerate heat anymore. In fact, it’s dangerous. I’ve seen the impacts first hand: she looks like she is having a seizure and loses power in her legs. She has not been allowed out at all this summer. Though I did allow her a fifteen minute respite yesterday.

What is most awful this summer is the absence of monarch butterflies. I guess it’s a blessing. She lives for monarch season. Since our count is near nil this year, she’s not missing much.

This year, our yard has been filled with swallowtails, admirals and other fritillaries. I’m not exaggerating when I say that on any given occasion, there could be as many as forty at a time.

By contrast, the monarch count has been one or two a week. I’m not kidding you when I say that I have been able to harvest no more than one caterpillar so far. By contrast, I had more than fifty last year. My best guess is that the energy company tree cutting and other construction demolished milkweed beds.

my sister has already had tons, but they’re not as hardy this year. Insecticide repercussions, most likely.

Poor girl. She had a bat in the house last week, and spent the week sleeping in her car. Exterminator cost $500. The morning after, she was stopped at a red light and someone plowed into her at 60 mph. He was on his phone. Local cop witnessed the whole thing. She is using a rental. My other sister has repeated car trouble. She can’t find a replacement part and has been borrowing her neighbor’s car. So I don’t know what, if anything, we will be doing for mama’s birthday. I use Uber whenever neither of them can give me a ride.

Because of all these car problems and doctor visits, we never did get out to the cemetery this year on my dad’s birthday. A trip there, or frankly anywhere, is a welcome day out of the house.

Besides Mama's needs, the only thing I have on my plate is dental surgery.

If I was working with the space that My neighbor has, I would get something tall-ish , and arrange it so it sticks out long-wise, because you won’t find anything decent sized in a round pot that is only 12inches wide.
If she doesn’t like this idea, then at a minimum, I’d put a square pot (or several in a row) there. It’s just too narrow for something round.

Then I’d probably add a narrow trellis to the end of the pot (against the brick wall part) so whatever is planted there doesn’t lean forward.
Plant something tall like tomato plant and attach it against the trellis.
And plant shorter stuff like basil or parsley or marigolds in front of that.

I think my pet sitter told me at some point she had some sort of problem making it difficult to conceive

I could be mixing her up with someone

She is pregnant now

My neighbor as she gets older has more and more problems, and this heat is a monster to her.

So I have been walking the pooch
When it gets real hot she sinks, like ma did when her diastolic would drop

Speaking if which ma better have something real good for us this month

Anyway the neighbor was pricing doggie stairs so her little one can get up and down from her bed without her lifting him

I got a pet supply catalog and gave it to her

400 bux

I thought gee tato would make something in an hour and me and my sister would jury rig something pretty good

She called her cousin, who said he would make her something

Honestly

The dog is drinking
We have loads of puddles he stops at, we carry water for him, and he has a water bowl in the house he uses

He is definitely dehydrated because the weather is just so hot
And even tho i purposely walk him on grass he ends up on the pavement by choice

He especially loves walking on curbs, because they are tiny sidewalks made for him
But those spots are burning hot

he ate a huge lunch so he will have drunk water even if I did not see it

Also note his owner uses air conditioning so they are both safe

We just got a storm warning on the tv so a walk tonite may be moot anyway

Whether one is alone or with others, whether one rages or is silent, berates one’s mate with questions and accusations or refrains from berating one’s mate with questions and accusations, the internal drama remains the same: the will has become fixed in a rigid orbit of injury — it spins and burns, but cannot escape its tiny, terrible sphere.--Leslie Farber

Aauuhhmm....--The Trail to Oregon - Gone to Oregon
Neighbor only mowed my lawn and J’s lawn. Nobody else’s.
(J lives 3 doors down and that’s where Stoner lived for a month when he was restrained from living in his own house for a month)
Neither J nor I mind when he mows our lawns.
I personally appreciate it.

“At bottom the whole concern of both morality and religion is with the manner of our acceptance of the universe,
Do we accept it only in part and grudgingly, or heartily and altogether?”==William James
Honestly
Four hundred-bucks no way

Then during three or four Days Consideration I put down under the different Heads short Hints of the different Motives that at different Times occur to me for or against the Measure.--Benjamin Franklin

He is fussy and spoiled

Definitely not a brat tho

He is the sweetest cuddliest dog and very much a pleaser
He would do anything for you if he had a way to figure out how to do it

You should see how he watches over His owner

God, I hope I get it.

ALL:
I hope I get it.
How many boys, how many girls?

GIRLS:
How many boys, how many...?

At all the people.
